In primary school and lower secondary school some EFL teachers avoid using picture books or novels in the original with young and intermediate learners (years 1-7), because they expect working with them to be too demanding or too time-consuming. In this class future teachers are encouraged to look at beginning readers, picture books as well as novels to explore their potential for teaching English as a foreign language to young and intermediate learners. We will discuss how these books can be used to foster reading skills, expand vocabulary knowledge and develop literary competences.
Students participating in this course are welcome to conduct their research study (Forschungsprojekt M-ENG 4, Komponente a und b, 6 LP) with me. Further information will be provided in our first session.

Voraussetzungen |
LPO 2003/BA: Completion of ”Introduction to TEFL”, GLS A and B. Please hand in a copy of the required document with your pre-task.
MEd 2011, MEd 2014: Successful completion of the D module as part of your BA. Please hand in a copy of the required document with your pre-task.
PLUS: Completion of a short preliminary task. The task will be sent via e-mail during the week following registration. Students are required to send their pre-tasks to frisch[at]uni-wuppertal.de by 30 September 2017.
